Mustangs and Feral Horses

Hollister Hunt Horsemanship (HHH) partners with Unbridled Horizons VT to help rehome well-trained mustangs and feral horses. Unbridled Horizons VT receives untouched and gentled mustangs. If needed, they are gentled, supported to gain trust in humans and receive basic training. Towards the end of their training each mustang is put up for adoption. The ones not adopted and/or need more support in order to be adoptable, are transferred to Hollister Hunt Horsemanship. It is here they are fully started, trained well on ground, and then re-homed.  We train with the intention of setting each horse up for success. That is, a well-trained, well-mannered, emotionally sound horse is more likely to end up in a loving home and less likely to be abused.  This is not a cut and dry nor bomb proof practice, however, it has demonstrated to be effective in many cases.  Once ready, we diligently vet each potential adopter. Every adopter must handle and ride each horse so we can see their approach to horsemanship and what their connection is like.  Adopted horses come with the guarantee that if at any point the owner can no longer keep them, we will accept them back with open arms and no judgement.
